After 41 days, one COVID patient detected in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: At a time when the second wave of coronavirus has engulfed various parts of the nation severely, one COVID-19 patient was detected in Lakhimpur on Monday following a 41 day-long gap. According to the source of District Health Department, the patient is a 22-year-old woman and she was detected positive for the infection of the highly contagious virus under Boginadi Block Primary Health Center (BPHC) area. On Monday, the Health Department conducted Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on 231 people across the district, out of which the woman was found positive. At present the patient has been put in home quarantine. With this patient, Lakhimpur has registered a total of 8,053 COVID-19 cases since April 4 of the last year till day. Out of them, 7993 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 59 people died due to coronavirus infection.

Notably, during the first wave of coronavirus contagion, the last COVID-19 patient of the district, who was a pregnant woman of five months, was detected on February 11. She was discharged from home quarantine on February 25. Since then, Lakhimpur was a COVID-19 patient-free district till day.
