KOKRAJHAR: Within a month of rip that appeared between Dhiren Boro and Gobinda Basumatary of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-Progressive), the split of its one of the wings People Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement (PJACBM) has become imminent as some of the leaders of the joint action committee who have been given show cause notice have set a 24-hour deadline for clarification from their Chief Convenor.

Talking to reporters at Kokrajhar Press Club on Friday, the Deputy Chief Convenor of the PJACBM Gorjan Mushahary said that the mission of the joint action committee was to help out in expediting peace dialogue between the NDFB (P) and the Government of India for a permanent solution and they have been working for a meaningful dialogue. He said that the split of top leaders of the NDFB (P) and expulsion of its president Dhiren Boro to bring Gobinda Basumatary in the presidentship did not remain within the outfit but its impact has virtually been seen among the leaderships of PJACBM. He said they never want to part from each other for the interest of a peaceful solution of Bodo problems.

Mushahary said that the Chief Convenor of the PJACBM Rakesh Boro issued a show-cause notice to seven of its leaders including him (Deputy Chief Convenor) and Convenor Dhaneswar Basumatary of Sonitpur district for reasons best known to him on September 13 that surprised them. He said that Rakesh Boro blamed them in certain media that they were involved in anti-people activities. He said, “What is meant by anti-people activities? Are we involved in criminal activities or are we working against the aims and objectives of the organization or are we working against the interest of its people?” He also said that they wanted unification but things went indifferent after Rakesh Boro served an explanation call from them. He further said that there was nothing wrong to participate in the peace process undertaken by the Government of India under the initiative of BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary as he is not against the creation of the separate state of Bodoland.

The Deputy Chief Convenor said that the PJACBM formally came into being at the initiative of Jebra Ram Mushahary who was the founder president for long. But Mushahary was expelled before the celebration of its foundation day held in Baksa district as he tried to invite NDFB (R) supremo Ranjan Daimary and BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary as guests; he said adding that the tradition of “Expel” of PJACBM has ruined the coexistence among the leaders.

Convenor of the PJACBM Dhaneswar Basumatary said on August 21, the president of the NDFB (P) Dhiren Boro was expelled from the post charging him for working against the constitution and wishes of organization and was replaced by Gobinda Basumatary. They also formed a new council of the outfit expelling some high-rank leaders, he said adding that the rip among the leaders of the NDFB (P) has also made fracture among the leaders of PJACBM. He said the Chief Convenor Rakesh Boro has suspended the Tamulpur and Salbari district committees of the PJACBM saying that they have been working against the interest of the organization.
