NAGAON: Based on intelligence input, the forest personnel of Salna range on Wednesday morning seized an Agar-laden truck at a petrol station at Amoni bazaar in Nagaon. According to sources, the value of the scented wood will be more than Rs 20 lakh. Sources stated that the 10-wheeler truck bearing registration number AS022C 2171 was carrying the wood from Golaghat towards Hojai. But when the driver, as well as the handyman, came to know somehow that they were being followed, they immediately parked the truck in a petrol pump and fled from there.

Forest personnel who were following the truck seized it from the petrol pump. Speaking to this correspondent, the range officer of Salna forest range, Salim Ahmad said, “When our men tracked the truck on NH-37 road, the driver abandoned the vehicle at the petrol station at Amoni bazaar to hide it,” he said. He added that the value of the seized Agar wood would be more than Rs 20 lakh, although the value was yet to be ascertained.
