LAKHIMPUR: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) showed its organizational strength in Lakhimpur on Thursday by organizing a mega convention of party workers and activists. By organizing the event under the aegis of Lakhimpur LAC Committee in the presence of thousands of party supporters, the AGP blew the poll bugle for the upcoming assembly election taking out a rally in North Lakhimpur town.

The workers' convention of the AGP was organized at the Tyag Kshetra of North Lakhimpur town and it commenced with Lakhimpur MLA-cum-AGP central committee general secretary Utpal Dutta in the chair.

Attending the event, AGP State president Atul Bora declared that the party candidates in the upcoming assembly election would be victorious almost in all the constituencies of the State.

"We have launched the process of change in the party. We have purified it and we are set ready to fight in forthcoming assembly poll with neo-courage and promises. The party has survived from a state of depression due to support and love of the honourable people of the State. Faith established by the upcoming generation in the party has increased its strength. Nobody can prevent us from being winner," said Bora.

He further appealed to the party workers to strengthen the organizational base of the party with honesty, sincerity, conviction and zeal to do good for the people of the State. He added that the AGP would go ahead with an ideology of liberal nationalism and asked the party activists to create an environment to achieve the aim and objective of the party to safeguard regional politics.

On the other hand, AGP working president Keshab Mahanta appealed to the people of the State to keep faith in the party. He added that the party would not commit mistakes in future as it had done before. On the other hand, Utpal Dutta criticized the Congress in strong terms and appealed to the people of the Lakhimpur LAC to ensure his victory in the upcoming assembly election like in the previous years. Attending the event, several leaders of AGP and its brother-sister organizations delivered speech.
