 GUWAHATI: Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) announced the new eligibility criteria for JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Advance-2023 as published by IIT Guwahati.

According to the new criteria, the candidates must satisfy at least one of the following two criteria with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in the year of first appearance in Class XII (or its equivalent). They must secure at least 75% aggregate marks in Class XII (or equivalent) board examinations, and the aggregate for SC, ST and PwD candidates should secure at least 65%. They must be within the category wise up top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective class XII (or equivalent) examination. The percentile calculation will be for all the required subjects, in a single academic year only. Therefore, students appearing for improvement can either appear in one or more subjects and secure at least 75% aggregate marks (65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates), and after improvement, or for improvement in all subjects to be top 20 percentile of the corresponding academic year.

The marks scored in the following five subjects will be considered for calculating the aggregate marks and the cut-off marks for fulfilling the 20 percentile - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language (if the candidate has taken more than one language, then the language with the higher marks will be considered), also, any subject other than the stated four subjects.

All the heads of the institutions are hereby requested to convey the information about the eligibility criteria to the aspirant HS candidates as well as HS 1st year students.
