AHSEC introduces Bihu as elective subject

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has introduced Bihu as an elective subject for the HS curriculum from the next academic session onwards.

According to the board, the main aim of the decision is to spread cultural awareness of the state among the students

Launching the new elective subject, AHSEC has also decided to introduce 27 other vocational subjects from the next session.

Notable personalities like Jaykanta Gandhia, Khagen Gogoi and Ismail Hossain will prepare the lessons on Bihu for the HS curriculum.

Meanwhile, 'Accountancy' and 'Business Studies' will be considered as elective subjects in Commerce stream.
