GUWAHATI: Air India Express has launched a new aircraft design with a Jaapi and Gamusa pattern on the tail. The Jaapi is a traditional Assamese bamboo and cane hat, symbolizing Assam’s culture, warmth, and hospitality. The Gamusa is a special woven cloth from Assam, used to show respect and in important ceremonies.
The announcement was shared by the Assam Chief Minister’s Office on social media platform X, calling it a “proud moment for Assam as it takes flight.” The post highlighted how the vibrant design reflects the state’s unique identity, earning widespread appreciation from people across Assam and beyond.
Air India Express redesigned the aircraft to celebrate India’s diverse culture. The new design includes Assam’s famous Jaapi to highlight the state’s heritage worldwide. Many people from Assam are happy about this and have praised the airline on social media for promoting their traditions.
As Air India Express continues to modernize its fleet with regionally inspired designs, the Jaapi-adorned aircraft is expected to serve as a flying ambassador of Assam’s legacy, carrying its cultural pride across the skies.
Meanwhile, Dibrugarh Airport has become better connected as Air India Express had commenced its operations from February 1, 2025. The airline had operated direct flights from Dibrugarh to Guwahati, and the same aircraft had gone further on to Delhi. Travel options for people dwelling in that region had become much more efficient.
The new service had ensured an efficient and convenient travel experience for all the passengers so that these major destinations became easily accessible. This was expected to increase regional connectivity by boosting business as well as leisure options.
