Air Marshal RD Mathur visits Dinjan Air Force Station on April 30 and May 1

Tezpur: Air Marshal RD Mathur AVSM VSM, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Air Command IAF, arrived on a two-day visit to Air Force Station Dinjan on April 30 and May 1. Dinjan airfield has been in existence since 1942 and was an important pivot for allied forces in World War II. 511 SU was established as Air Force Station Dinjan on August 26, 1964 and has been an important surveillance unit in this area ever since.

During his visit, Air Marshal Mathur inspected units and key locations of the station to assess their operational readiness. He was also briefed on infrastructural additions taking place to prepare for future inductions at the base, and to improve its facilities. The Air Marshal addressed and interacted with station personnel and exhorted them to maintain high operational standards and preparedness. He appreciated the high degree of operational readiness and morale of personnel deployed at the base and emphasized the need for greater security consciousness and awareness on part of all air warriors in the current security scenario.

Shipra Mathur, president of Air Force Wives Welfare Association (Regional), accompanied the AOC-in-C and was given a warm welcome by the ladies of AFWWA (local) Dinjan. She was taken around some of the facilities and ventures being operated at the base for the benefit of local personnel.
