AIUDF Chief Ajmal Meet Victims of Garukhuti Violence, Extends Financial Assistance

GUWAHATI: After one month of Garukhuti Violence, AIUDF chief Badaruddin Ajmal met and extended financial assistance to the victims' families.

AIUDF supremo, Ajmal gave cash of Rs 2 lakh each to the victims' families and Rs. 10,000 to the injured persons. Speaking to the AIDUF chief alleged that the administration did not follow proper rules for the eviction.

He also alleged that that the Garukhuti people received eviction notices in the midnight and the following morning administration started evicting them.

On September 23, violence erupted in Garukhuti when the Darrang district administration carried out an eviction drive. Two people lost their lives and some including security personnel received injury in the violence.

Talking about the prospect of his party's in the upcoming state assembly by-polls, the AIUDF chief claimed that they would triumph.

"We are fielding candidates in two constituencies, i.e. Gossaigaon and Bhawanipur. We will both the constituencies," he added.

Ajmal also lambasted their last Assam assembly elections ally the Congress alleging that the Grand Old party is contesting in the Bhawanipur constituency to help the ruling BJP win.

Earlier, pertaining to the Assam-Mizoram inter-district border clash, AIUDF Supremo Badaruddin Ajmal met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with Sonai MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiya in order to discuss long term solutions for the border conflict.
