MORIGAON: Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Morigaon unit on Wednesday sent a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the Deputy Commissioner of Morigaon.

The district committee of the organization led by president Dipjyoti Baisya and secretary Mirza Arif Alam handed over the memorandum consisting of three-point charter of demands to the DC.

In the memorandum, the organization strongly opposed the Central Government's decision to allow coal mining inside the Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary.

The organization also condemned the Central Government's move to privatize Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd. (APDCL) and to privatize some oil fields of the State.

The organization has expressed serious concern over the Central Government's decision. The AJYCP Morigaon unit urged the Central Government to roll back these decisions and to give importance to issues like flood and erosion, unemployment and illegal foreigners.
