AJYCP observes Sit in Demonstration demanding unconditional release of Akhil Gogoi

Bokajan: The Bokajan unit of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) staged a 3-hour sit-in demonstration near the SDO(C) office demanding the release of KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi at Bokajan in East Karbi Anglong on Friday.

The protesters demanded the unconditional release of Akhil who had fallen sick at the central jail in Guwahati since Monday. The demonstrators also demanded

the immediate termination of all microfinance institutions which has pushed the economically weaker section of the society into indebtedness which sometimes leads to severe consequences.

Briefing the media, AJYCP Karbi Angling district secretary Jitu Phukan said that the arrest of Akhil Gogoi reveals the fascist nature of the present state government. "The government is planning to murder him inside the jail which is apparently evident in the government stillness in ensuring proper medical treatment to Akhil in custody," he said.
