NAGAON: The district body of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) today submitted a memorandum to Dimple Boruah, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon district housing and urban affairs, against the proposed high rate of municipality taxes and also demanded to scrap the move initiated by the State Government at any cost as it is creating panic among the city dwellers.

In a press note, the president and in-charge secretary of the district unit of the organization, Pragjyotish Bonia and Parthapratim Bairagi respectively stated that the major portion of the people living in the small town belong to the middle and lower middle classes and the proposed additional taxation on them will apparently ruin their lives.

The people in the small town are still struggling with financial devastation caused by consecutive waves of COVID-19 during the last couple of years amidst such financial devastation, the proposed additional taxation on them will add more burden on them, the district body of the organization asserted.
