NAGAON: Rana Pratap Boruah, the state president of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), urged Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene in the case of Barshashree Sodiakhuwa Burhagohain who is imprisoned since the last two months, and appealed him to make all arrangements to release her from jail as early as possible so that she could appear in the B. Sc. second semester examination scheduled to be held next month.

While addressing some local media persons here at the office of district AJYCP, Boruah said that the student did nothing in terms of sedition, rather she expressed her feelings. "She being charged with sedition by the administration is quite unfortunate," Boruah said, and added that if the police administration tried to prevent the common people from expressing their feelings, people in large numbers would come out on the streets one day.

The AJYCP leader appealed to the authority concerned as well as the Chief Minister to release the unfortunate student from jail as early as possible so that no major public democratic movement starts. The student was jailed for a poem that she had composed and shared on social media a couple of months ago.
