GUWAHATI: Raijor Dal president and MLA Akhil Gogoi denied the allegations of distributing liquor and cash among the voters of the assembly constituencies that will vote tomorrow, October 30.

The ruling BJP alleged that the Rajior Dal distributed cash and liquor among the voters to lure them. Thwarting the allegations, MLA Gogoi claimed that the Raijor Dal has been doing value-based politics.

"The Raijor Dal never distribute cash and liquor. I want to assure the people of Assam that the Raijor Dal will not do that in future, too," he added.

Elections will be held on tomorrow in five assembly constituencies of the state. These constituencies include Mariani, Thowra, Bhanipur, Tamulpur and Gossaigaon.

Earlier, lashing out at Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar Independent MLA Akhil Gogoi, on Thursday said that they would roar like lions on the assembly floor if their party candidates win in the upcoming by-polls in the Thowa and Mariani constituencies.

Gogoi appealed to the voters to cast their votes for the candidates who have an uncompromising stand and said that they would shake Chief Minister Sarma in the assembly floor if their number of MLAs becomes three.

"If our candidates win in Mariani and Thowa, then our MLA will be three and among them, myself will be one. If it happens, we could shake Himanta Biswa Sarma on the assembly floor. It could be only done by us. Only we could resist communal forces. The Congress and the AIUDF could not do it," he added.
