GUWAHATI: In an embarrassment for his supporters, Independent MLA and Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi, who was seen vocal in the current state assembly session raising various issues from its very first day, on Friday was seeing napping during a speech delivered by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Chief Minister Sarma today addressed the assembly on the much-debated interstate border dispute. During his speech, the independent MLA was napping on his seat. The video of which has drawn mixed responses from the viewers.

Earlier, the Sibsagar MLA while interacting with the media said that he is the most honest person in Assam politics.

This came after, AIUDF leader Aminul Islam's alleged that the Raijor Dal president demanded Rs. 10 crores to form an alliance with the Badaruddin Ajmal-led party prior to the Assam assembly elections 2021, Akhil said that that the former is a silly person.

"I do not think that I have to pay attention to what Aminul Islam said. I am the most honest person in the Assam politics," added Akhil.

The Raijor Dal president also said that his party is ready to form an alliance with all the opposition parties except the AIDUF to take the BJP-led front in the upcoming by-elections of five assembly constituencies of the state.

Terming the AIUDF as a communal party, Gogoi further added, "As the ruling BJP, the AIUDF is also a communal party. We will never form an alliance with the party. We want to warn the Congress that the Raijor Dal will form an alliance with them if they cut relations with the AIUDF."

He said that his party is ready to form an alliance even with Left parties which are also constituents of the Congress-led Mahajot.

It is to be noted that Akhil Gogoi-led Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity extended support to Badaruddin Ajmal in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
