AKRSU demands ST categorization of Koch-Rajbanshi community

BONGAIGAON: The 30th foundation day of All Koch-Rajbanshi Students' Union (AKRSU) was observed on Wednesday at their central office at Bongaigaon. The programme started with flag hoisting by central president Arun Ray. The women's committee flag was hoisted by Purabi Ray Sarkar, president of the women's committee, whereas flag of Chilaray Sena was hoisted by Db Ranjan Mondol, chairman of Chilaray Sena, and flag of the cultural forum was hoisted by Pradip Talukdar. Lighting of lamp was done by Gokul Barman, general secretary of AKRSU. Gokul Barman said that the government should announce the ST categorization of the Koch-Rajbanshi community within August 15. "At the same time, bill for implementation of Kamatapur autonomous council should be passed in the legislative assembly. Otherwise, we will give a fitting reply in the next election," he said.
