Ali-Aye-Ligang celebrated in Nagaon and Hojai

NAGAON: With a day-long programme, the people of the Mising community living in Nagaon and Hojai districts on Sunday jointly celebrated Ali-Aye-Ligang. In the morning, a specific interaction programme was held among the youths of the community, following which they observed the traditional ritual of sowing seeds. During the open session, the renowned scholar of folk culture of the State, Chao Lukeswar Gogoi said that the greater Assamese nationality would be strong only when folk culture of the tribes and communities would be enriched or given equal importance. Educationist Dr Surajit Kumar Bhagawati, renowned poets Dr Prayag Saikia and Anubhov Tulsi, literary critic Prabhat Bora, folk scholar Dr Pabitra Kumar Pegu and other dignitaries were present in the function.
