All Assam Bhaona Competition Held in Sarupathar

SARUPATHAR: The Barokhiliya Bor-Namghar of Gondhokoroi village in Sarupathar under Golaghat district organized the fourth All Assam Bhaona competition from January 25 which concluded on Friday.

The eight-day bhaona competition has been conducted by the committee president Naren Chutia, working president Jiban Chutia, secretaries Rabo Chutia and Tankeshwar Saikia.

“It is a traditional form of theatre, which shows the victory of truth at the climax, generally using mythological figures drawn from the Bhagavad and the Ramayana,” president Naren Chutia said. According to the report, every day two bhaona competition has been performed by the competitors and in the end of the programme prizes were distributed among the winners.
