All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) Conference Concludes At Udalguri

UDALGURI: The 40th biennial conference of the All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) concluded at Udalguri with an appeal to unite for the cause of Gorkha people. Jon Chouhan, president of BTC regional committee, AAGSU, stated that the BTC, State and Union governments have failed to keep up to their promises to the Gorkha community. He said the people are ready to give a fitting reply in the coming elections.

The open session was presided over by Purna Kirat Rai, president of Udalguri district committee, AAGSU. The mouthpiece of Udalguri district committee was released by Ramesh Dahal, president of Udalguri district committee of Asom Gorkha Sanmellan. Ashim Bora, research officer of Tribal Research Institute, Guwahati, said in the meeting that the process for scheduling of the Gorkha community is on and the final report will be submitted to the government soon. He lauded the Gorkha community having cordial relations with other communities of the State.

The meeting was also addressed by Sanjeev Chetry, general secretary Prem Tamang, president of AAGSU, Laxmi Sendai, general secretary of Asom Gorkha Sanmellan and others.

Bishnu Sarma Neupane, president of the reception committee, read out the welcome address while guests were introduced by Pawan Luitel, general secretary of the reception committee.

Earlier, a colourful cultural procession was brought out on the streets of Udalguri town. Udalguri DC Dilip Kumar Das flagged off the procession. A carrier counselling progrmme was inaugurated by Bhaben Deuri, Inspector of Schools, Udalguri and was conducted by Mohan Kumar Rout while Ranjan Kumar Baruah was the resource person.
