All Assam Lawyers’ Association stage protests against Anti-CAA in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: The strong anti-CAA protests continued here with the Dibrugarh branch of the All Assam Lawyers’ Association taking out a rally on Friday.

Hundreds of lawyers took to the streets chanting and holding placards against the said Act. They went to the DC court and presented a memorandum to the President of India through the DC reflecting their opposition to CAA.

The past few days had seen intense opposition to CAA. On Thursday, thousands of people belonging to certain ethnic tribes as well as non-tribal people took out a rally from Dikom to Lahoal in stiff opposition to CAA. Moreover, in response to the satyagraha called by the AASU, thousands of people had gathered for all three days at the Chowkidinghee Field and AASU office. On the other hand, curfew continued in the district, albeit in a much diluted form, with it being lifted for 14 hours from 6 am to 8 pm.
