SARUPATHAR: The All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) Dhansiri subdivision committee staged a massive protest in front of the subdivisional office, Dhansiri at Sarupathar on Monday. They demanded that harassment of indigenous people of Assam in the name of ‘D’ voters should be stopped. Two years have gone by since the construction of PHC at Uriamghat in Dhansiri subdivision of Golaghat district was completed. But unfortunately, for the people of the area, the health centre has not been inaugurated till today.

While rhetoric flows thick and fast from Dispur, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has seemingly turned a blind eye towards the suffering of the people of the area while all representations and appeals before various authorities have fallen on deaf ears, they alleged. Having no other way of approaching the health authority, the regional unit of the AAMSU took out a massive protest rally to make the PHC functional. They also demanded that Sarupathar College should be named after Swahid Kushal Konwar. AAMSU president Sahtaj Ahmed and general secretary Irfan Ahmed of Dhansiri subdivision committee were present in the protest.
