GOLAGHAT: In view of the future of the students of Golaghat Engineering College, the Golaghat AASU has called a public meet on May 18 to discuss the All India Council for Technical Education’s (AICTE) rejection of the recognition plea for Golaghat Engineering College (GEC).

In a press statement, president and general secretary of All Golaghat District Students’ Union, Niranjal Sonowal and Prince Doley, said that the AICTE rejected the recognition plea for GEC due to the alleged ignorance of the Assam Government and Education Department. As a result, at least 92 students of the college were facing an uncertain future. The college had started its classes in 2018 and two-semester results had also been declared. After this, the government did not pay attention to fulfil the norms and regulations of AICTE. As a result, the AICTE rejected the plea for recognition to the college. In view of the future of the students of the college, the Golaghat AASU has called a public meeting on May 18.
