All Assam Students' Union demands revival of Nagaon-Cachar paper mills

JAGIROAD: The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) Jagiroad unit staged a 10-hour long hunger strike on Saturday demanding immediate revival of the Nagaon Paper Mill and Cachar Paper Mill.

The AASU leaders said that both the mills were not functioning since the last three years and the State and the Central governments were only giving mere assurances but not initiating any concrete steps towards revival of the mills. They further said that the fate of the paper mills now depended on the hearing of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to be held on September 14.The leaders urged upon the State Government to take appropriate measures soon.
