LAKHIMPUR: AASU (All Assam Students’ Union) members continued protest in Lakhimpur over consecutive leak of ongoing HSLC exam question papers.

Alleging comprehensive failure on the part of Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) Chairman Ramesh Kumar Jain and Controller of Examination Nayan Jyoti Sarmah with regard to checking the loopholes of the machinery which led the leak of HSLC examination question paper, the activists of the North Lakhimpur regional committee of the organization, led by president Pinku Bordoloi, general secretary Abhijit Burhagohain, burnt their effigies in North Lakhimpur town on Friday. During the demonstration, the protesters shouted number of slogans to slam the Education Minister, SEBA Chairman and the Controller of the Examination. They demanded the Education Minister, SEBA Chairman and the Controller of Examination should step down for their alleged failure. Taking part in the demonstration, AASU Lakhimpur district general secretary Swaraj Sankar Gogoi once again came down heavily against the Education Minister, SEBA Chairman and the Controller of Examination.

KALAIGAON: On Saturday, AASU activists protested in front of the Kalaigaon Police Station. The police in Kalaigaon put a stop to the burning of effigies. President of AASU Kalaigaon Regional Unit Madhurjya Sarma, and advisor Ranjit Nath led the demonstration, alleging that the sheer inefficiency of the SEBA administration had once again come to light. The demonstration was attended by a number of office-holders and members of the AASU Kalaigaon regional section. The protesters also chanted a number of anti-government and anti-Education Ministry slurs.
