All Assam Unemployed Association Demand for Transfer of WRD Officers

LAKHIMPUR: The All Assam Unemployed Association (AAUA) has demanded the State government and the department concerned to transfer those officers of the Water Resources Department (WRD) who have been working for more than 10 years in the same division.

In this regard, the Lakhimpur district unit of the organization submitted separate memoranda to the Chief Minister, WRD Minister and the secretary of the department concerned on Wednesday. In the memoranda, Lakhimpur unit All Assam Unemployed Association president Binod Das and general secretary Khirod Chetia said, “We have noticed that some officers of the WRD are working in the same division for more than 10 years. Under such circumstances, they avail the opportunity to sponsor corruption with regard to the construction of the embankments. So, they must be transferred to another division as per the decision taken in the meeting held on June 21 in the River Research Centre at Basistha in Guwahati.”
