ORANG: In a significant political message ahead of crucial developments in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) President Dipen Boro called for greater unity among regional forces while issuing stern warnings against statements that could disturb peace in the area. Speaking at a press conference in Udalguri, Boro revealed that ABSU never received any formal communication from former BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary in 2020, as claimed earlier. “There is no record of such a letter. Mohilary must clarify who was assigned to deliver it,” Boro stated.
Reaffirming ABSU’s steadfast position on the Sixth Schedule, the student leader said, “We will never compromise on this issue. The government must ensure land rights under the law.” He urged BJP leader Dilip Kumar Saikia to avoid further remarks on the matter, stressing that his earlier comments were unacceptable.
Boro also expressed deep concern over recent political rhetoric describing ‘first and second class citizens,’ warning that such language could trigger unrest in the BTR. He appealed directly to the Chief Minister to refrain from repeating such statements.
While talks between the UPPL leadership, including party President Pramod Boro, and the Bodo national organization have already taken place, Dipen Boro confirmed that the organization is still awaiting a meeting with Hagrama Mohilary.
