All Bodo Students' Union hopes for speedy implementation of BTR Accord

KOKRAJHAR: The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) has welcomed the formation of the new government by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People' Party Liberal (UPPL) alliance in the State. The ABSU also extended its congratulation to the elevation of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam and his team of ministers who took oath on Monday.

The president of ABSU, Dipen Boro and general secretary Khanindra Basumatary, in a statement said that they were hopeful that the new government in Assam would strive for peace, harmony and all-round development of the downtrodden communities and to address their issues and to strengthen the newly-formed Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) in a speedy manner.

Meanwhile, the BTR accord has many provisions to be implemented by the Government of Assam and the Centre, the leaders of ABSU said, and urged the new government under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma as the Chief Minister to implement all clauses of the BTR Accord for the socio-economic and educational development of the Bodoland Territorial Region in letter and spirit.

Boro also congratulated all the MLAs from UPPL and the two cabinet ministers, Urkhao Gwra Brahma from 63 Chapaguri (ST) LAC and Gabinda Ch. Basumatary from 69 Udalguri (ST) LAC.

The ABSU also thanked the people of BTR, irrespective of communities, for the massive support in the exercise of the democratic process of adult franchise in a peaceful manner.
