All India Radio, Dibrugarh celebrates its 55th foundation day

DIBRUGARH: All India Radio Dibrugarh on Wednesday celebrated its 55th foundation day at All India Radio station in Dibrugarh. All India Radio, Dibrugarh has always been committed to working for inclusive growth of the society since its commissioning on February, 15, 1969 in the easternmost part of the country. During the past years, AIR Dibrugarh has been sincerely trying to cater services for preservation and promotion of culture and wisdom, highlighting the social values and ethos and to boost scientifically the agricultural, commercial and industrial activities parallelly with entertainment.

Drama, with all its formats stage, street, radio, film or television always has a great impact on the society. All India Radio Dibrugarh has so far organized the Radio Drama Festival several times; but this is the biggest ever. A total of 19 dramas performed by 18 amateur theatre groups of Upper Assam have already been recorded for the festival.

The festival dramas, a total of 39 episodes of 30 minutes duration, will start broadcasting from February 16, 2023 and end on March 27, 2023. The objectives of the festival are to promote the young theatre talents of Assam, especially those who are not yet acquainted with the radio platform, to promote radio drama and to attract the amateur theatre groups towards radio to work for social causes.
