TINSUKIA: The All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF) and NFR Mazdoor Union (NFRMU) have strongly condemned the BJP-led government for its conspiracy not to pay bonus prior to Durga Puja while demanding the immediate release of bonus to its employees.

Though AIRF president and general secretary NFR Mazdoor Union (NFRMU) Rakhal Dasgupta had several rounds of discussion with the Railway Board, the latter failed to clear its stand on bonus issue, stated a press release issued by Pulak Gogoi, publicity secretary of NFRMU.

Gogoi reminded that in 1974, the Congress government led by Indira Gandhi had to fall after it denied the bonus to Railway employees following nation-wide agitation by AIRF while in 1979, the then Janata Government faced the railwaymen's ire and was forced to pay bonus. The trade unions asked the government not to play with the sentiments of 12 lakh railway employees and demanded the release of bonus without delay, the release stated.
