JOYSAGAR/Demow: The All Tea Tribes Students’ Association (ATTSA) Sivasagar district committee had called a 24-hour Sivasagar district tea garden bandh in support of the organization’s demand to hike the daily wages of tea garden workers to Rs. 350 per day instead of the present rate of Rs.137 per day. Altogether 88 tea gardens and their offices remained closed due to the bandh called by the organization. The ATTSA leaders accused the BJP-led State Government of not fulfilling the poll promises and said that the State Labor Minister just tried to satisfy the tea labour class by hiking their daily wage only by Rs 30 per day. The ATTSA warned that they would not stop agitating till their demand was fulfilled.
