BONGAIGAON: "All trade unions and federations of India will stage a demonstration on May 22. This demonstration will be against the conspiracy of the Central Government to handover the public sectors to corporate houses," said Rakhal Das Gupta, president of All India Railwaymen's Federation and general secretary of N F Railway Mazdoor Union on Thursday.
He said that during this COVID-19 pandemic, all the people of India were in distress. "And taking advantage of this situation, the Central Government is silently trying to sell the public sector to corporate houses. Also, by violating labour rights, the government is changing duty hours from 8 hours to 12 hours in some sectors. On the other hand, the government employees, who are working during this lockdown, have been betrayed by freezing their DA. AIRF and NFRMU will never let this happen and will always raise their voice against such anti-labour policies. So, along with other trade unions and federations, the Railway employees will also stage demonstration on May 22 throughout India in different ways following lockdown regulation and maintaining social distancing. If the government does not stop conspiring immediately, we will be compelled to go for massive democratic agitation in the coming days," Das Gupta said.
