All trade unions & federations join nationwide protest in Bongaigaon

BONGAIGAON: All trade unions and federations in Bongaigaon and New Bongaigaon observed the "All India Protest Day" along with the rest of the nation on Sunday.

Talking to the mediapersons, Ashish Biswas, Joint Secretary of NF Railway Mazdoor Union said that this day is the day i.e. August 9 when the 'Quite India Movement' was started. "It was that time when Mahatma Gandhi started the Quite India movement, and we also started our movement of 'SAVE RAILWAY, SAVE NATION'. We are now united against the Central Government's anti-labour activities. This Government is creating a situation of emergency throughout the country by taking advantage of COVID-19 pandemic so that it can do all its anti-public activities easily and no one can protest against it. But we shall never let them to do so," he said.

Several organizations including the NF Railway Mazdoor Union, All India Railwaymans Federation, N F Railway Employees Union, Hind Mazdoor Sabha, Indian National Trade Union Congress, Centre of Indian Trade Unions, NF Railway Employees Union, Purbanchaliya Rail Karmi Parishad, and Pensioners' Association participated in the protest.

The Indian National Congress also supported this trade-union movement and Sankar Prasad Ray, president of Bongaigaon district Congress participated in this program at Bongaigaon and New Bongaigaon.

"BJP Government is just flattering the public. They assure a lot but does nothing. For the interest of corporate houses, now they are trying to sell the whole country. Congress party was always with the labour class and will always remain," Sankar Prasad Ray said.

Several leaders such as Hareswar Das from CITU, Pramod Kumar Rastogi from NFREU, Prafulla Sutradhar from PRKP, Swadhin Sikdar from Pensioners Association, Gobinda Biswas from HMS etc were present here .
