Alleged sand syndicate running in Sarupathar

SARUPATHAR: On the bank of the Dhansiri River, miscreants are allegedly running a sand syndicate under the nose of the police and forest administration. Reportedly, the Dhansiri subdivision administration has not given any permission to dig sand from the River Dhansiri in the Naojan area but miscreants allegedly dig sand from the river during the day and also at night. Local people and the Chutia Students’ Union, Sarupathar regional unit have alleged that the sand was being dug illegally from the River Dhansiri. They have demanded action in this regard by the administration of Dhansiri subdivision.
