GAURISAGAR: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Amguri constituency committee in Sivasagar district staged sit-in at Gaurisagar on Wednesday against the violence during the Gorukhuti eviction drive at Dhalpur in Sipajhar recently.
Addressing the gathering, Amguri MLA Prodip Hazarika strongly criticized the Congress party by alleging that the party was the protector of illegal foreigners. MLA Hazarika also said that the AGP has protested against illegal encroachment of 77 thousand bighas of government land and the AGP would give support to the government for proper eviction.
After the protest, Amguri AGP submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Assam and Chief Minister citing that the eviction drive should not stop under any circumstance.
