Notably, Assam has in the past few years have been contributing to generating revenue for Amul and Mother Dairy. People of Assam especially citizens of Guwahati rely much on package products from these two dairies be it milk or its milk by-products.

Due to the non-availability of quality local milk products and also due to the span of life nowadays it's a common practice for the people of India to start believing in package milk products but with the rise in price and the pandemic on top of it, the cost of milk has put an additional cost to a family's budget.

Amul Milk Price Hiked from July 1st

It is to be mentioned here that the Rs 2 per liter hike translates to a 4 percent increase in the maximum retail price (MRP).

On the other hand, leading milk supplier Mother Dairy has increased milk prices in Delhi-NCR along with other prominent cities like Guwahati by Rs 2 per litre with effect from July 11 due to higher input costs.

The new prices will be applicable for all milk variants.

"The company has been experiencing inflationary pressure on the overall input costs which has increased multi-fold in the last one year, accompanied by the distress in milk production due to the ongoing pandemic," the statement said.

Not just milk but the prices of many essential FMCG products have increased due to higher input costs. Products such as edible oil, soap, tea, and even packaged food grains have increased as a result of higher inflation.
