Anjali Dutta Memorial Lecture delivered

JOYSAGAR: The 16th death anniversary of Anjali Dutta, noted social worker and a folk artiste of Gayangaon, Sivasagar, was observed in Sivasagar town by the members of the Anjali Dutta Trust, in association with the Sivasagar Press Club, on Wednesday at the Commerce College Auditorium.

In the morning, floral tribute and lighting of lamp was done before the portrait of Anjali Dutta by her son Anup Dutta. The Anjali Dutta Memorial Lecture on the topic ‘Changing social trends and the neo-generation’ was delivered by noted psychologist Dr Jayanta Das and by famous writer and novelist Monikuntala Bhattacharrya. They focused on various social and eco-behavioral crisis of the present era. Social changing trends often pose more challenges for the new generation, they observed.

The lecture was formally inaugurated by Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner PG Jha and it was chaired by the Principal of Sivasagar Commerce College, Dr. SJ Mahanta. In the same function, the Sivasagar Press Club (SPC) also distributed education aid among some selected students of the town from underprivileged families. Besides, artist Ajanur Rahman of Joysagar was also conferred the ‘Artist of the Year’ award by the ONGC, Sivasagar office. SPC also felicitated four young scientists on the occasion for designing a solar energy bicycle to help patients in case of emergency. Hundreds of local citizens took part in the function.
