The 28th Annual Day of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) was celebrated on Saturday at Lilabari Airport of Lakhimpur district with full enthusiasm and active participation of the employees at a function organized in a befitting manner.

LAKHIMPUR: The 28th Annual Day of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) was celebrated on Saturday at Lilabari Airport of Lakhimpur district with full enthusiasm and active participation of the employees at a function organized in a befitting manner.

Notably, the Government of India at first constituted the International Airports Authority of India (IAAI) in 1972 to manage the nation’s international airports. Thereafter, the National Airports Authority of India (NAAI) was constituted in 1986 to look after domestic airports. Airports Authority of India was constituted by an Act of Parliament, viz-the Airports Authority of India Act, 1994, and it came into being on April 1, 1995 by merging erstwhile National Airports Authority and International Airports Authority of India. The merger brought into existence a single organization entrusted with the responsibility of creating, upgrading, maintaining and managing civil aviation infrastructure both on the ground and air space in the country.

To celebrate the event, all the heads of the department and employees assembled at conference hall of the Lilabari Airport, wherein Mahat Chandra Sonowal, Airport Director, AAI read out the Chairman’s message on the occasion. Enhancing the camaraderie and the team spirit, the 28th Annual Day function was held at all AAI airports and its establishments in the North Eastern Region on Sunday.

In his address to the HoDs and the employees, Mahat Chandra Sonowal, congratulated all on the occasion of 28th Annual Day of Airports Authority of India (AAI) and appreciated all the employees for their hard work and integrity shown towards the enhancement the organization. He also emphasised on need to be more focused on customer’s satisfaction as a public service organisation.

Airports Authority of India’s theme song was also played during the course of the celebration to inspire the feeling of brotherhood and unity amongst the employees.

Speaking on the occasion, Airport Director Sonowal further said, “Airports Authority of India is a Mini Ratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt of India. AAI manages 137 airports, which include 24 International Airports (including 3 International Civil Enclaves), 10 Customs Airports (including 4 Customs Civil Enclaves), 80 Domestic Airports and 23 Domestic Civil Enclaves at Defence airfields. AAI also provides Air Traffic Management Services (ATMS) over entire Indian Air Space and adjoining oceanic areas with ground installations at all Airports and 25 other locations to ensure safety of Aircraft operations”.

Rupsi (DHUBRI): The 28th Annual Day of Airports Authority of India (AAI) was celebrated on Saturday at Rupsi Airport, Rupsi with full enthusiasm by the employees. All the Heads of the Department assembled where Tanmaya Sharma, Officer-In-Charge, Rupsi Airport, AAI read out the Chairman’s message on the occasion.

In his address to the HODs and the employees, Sharma appreciated the efforts of the entire team of Rupsi Airport for providing best services and their contribution in operations of the airport.

He also emphasised that safety is paramount and all the employees should make endeavour to provide best services, keeping in mind the motto of the organization “Suraksha Sahit Seva”( Rendering Services with Safety and Security). Airports Authority of India’s theme song was also played during the day.
