HAFLONG: The annual meeting-cum-get-together programme of Dimasa's female clan or Jadi 'Mairongma Jilik' organized by Kosholya Maireng Gedeba (Mairengdi) Welfare Committee held at Town Raji Hall on Wednesday.
The programme was attended by several delegates from several regions of Assam, including Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Karbi Anglong, Hojai, etc. apart from several hundreds of clan mates from all regions.
During the meeting, several issues faced by the members in society, community, daily life, etc. were discussed and an aspect of how to develop the clan was discussed.
Podmini Daulagupu, a senior member of the welfare committee said that the meeting is held every year to address their problems and how to get over them among clan mates and encourage the young generation toward positive vibes while seeking unity. In the Dimasa society, males have 40 clan groups, 'Sempong' (Surname) while females have 42 clan groups, 'Jadi' with serial number.
