JAMUGURIHAT: The annual prize distribution ceremony of Siporiya HS was held on Monday with Moti Kumar Newar, the president of the school management and development committee (SMDC) in the chair. Ram Upadhyaya, headmaster of the school explained the objectives of the meeting. In this connection, two outgoing teachers of the school Krishna Devi, headmistress and Churamoni Sarma, science teacher who superannuated from their services were accorded a warm farewell bid by the school authority. The retired teachers were felicitated with a citation, sarai, gamosa, a packet of books each by the staff. In the open session 'Jiban Binar Sur', an Assamese poetry book compiled by Jamal Uddin Sheikh, a senior teacher of school was unveiled by Indra Prasad Saikia, former professor of English, THB college. The meeting was attended by Dalmohan CHETRY, Prasanna Bora besides other dignitaries. All the proceedings of the meeting were conducted by Hemanga Hazarika, assistant teacher of the school. A series of cultural activities were performed by the students in between the programme.
