Annual sports meet of 'Modern Academy' held in Doomdooma

DOOMDOOMA: The 21st Annual Sports Meet of 'Modern Academy', an English medium senior secondary school situated at Tapoban of Rupai Siding here began on Wednesday. The meet was formally inaugurated by the former Principal of Doomdooma College and former President of Tinsukia Zila Xahitya Xabha Badan Sarma. The students of the school performed a march past. Students as well as teachers of the school performed a few colourful cultural items in the programme. Earlier, the Principal of the school Prabhat Bikiomiya Deori welcomed the guests. A retired Deputy Commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh Government S. K. Deori, retired Block Elementary Education Officer and the president of the Managing Committee of 'Modern Academy' Jogendra Nath Baruah, principal of Rupai Jatiya Vidyalaya Sarat Chandra Chiring Phukan, retired teacher of Doomdooma Bangiya Vidyalaya Sailen Sarma and journalist Abhijit Khataniar attended the inaugural ceremony as guests of honour. The inaugural programme was anchored by Nayanmoni Tamuly, an assistant teacher of the school.
