NALBARI: Anomalies have been alleged in the implementation of a government scheme to develop the indigenous industry of the State and to help the poor japi artisans of the district. An amount of Rs 10 lakh under the scheme has allegedly not been distributed among deserving beneficiaries equally. As a consequence, genuine beneficiaries of the scheme in the district have been deprived while many fake beneficiaries have received the amount of Rs 10,500 each. The art of japi making is practiced mainly in villages like Tilana, Balamugkuchi, Terchia, Digheli and Sutarkuchi. But it has been alleged that the distribution committee chose people they favoured and left out many genuine struggling artisans. Local MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah has assured to include the remaining artisans in the second list of beneficiaries.
