GOLAGHAT: Huge anomalies have been taking place in the construction of pavers block road in Rangajan – Halmira connecting road under Golaghat district. The local public of this area alleged that substandard and low-quality construction and materials were used in the construction of the pavers block road. The road was almost 3 KM the construction activities of which started three years ago.

Due to the alleged apathy and negligence on the part of the PWD (R) department, the Rangajan – Halmira connecting road has been in a deplorable condition since the past few months. This bypass is used for connecting Golaghat town, Dergaon and Jorhat district and the road is the lifeline for the greater part of the people of the region. But the pathetic condition of the road has made life miserable for them. Most of the parts of the pavers block road are breaking up and potholes have resulted. As a result, passengers have to travel with great risk while traveling through this connecting road as the condition of the road in many locations remains dangerous and pitiable since the past several months.

This has caused serious problems for vehicle users and riders. Due to the pathetic condition of the road, there is a possibility of various tragic road accidents on this road.

Notably, in the year 2016, the PWD minister Ajanta Neog inaugurated the pavers block bypass from Rongajan to Salmora connecting road. Along with the road a steel bridge with a length of 219-85 metre over Dhansiri river was also inaugurated. The total estimated amount was 22 crore. The local people and conscious people of nearby Rangajan – Halmira connecting road alleged that the construction group who had received approval of construction of the road allegedly worked with very substandard construction, for which the road turned deplorable within three years. The local people demanded the authority to immediately repair the roads.
