Another Congress Wicket Falls As Ex-Barpeta MLA Abdur Rahim Khan Quits Party

Guwahati: Former Barpeta MLA and Barpeta District Congress president Abdur Rahim Khan on Thursday resigned from the party.

"With due respect and humble submission, I have the honour to inform you that I am compelled to resign from the post of the Barpeta District Congress president as well as from the primary membership of the Indian National Congress," the resignation letter addressed to Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Bora read.

As per reports, the Ex-MLA is likely to join back the Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF party soon.

Notably, in Assam Congress, nothing seems to be well as one after other wickets are falling on a monthly basis.

In April 2022, several Congress leaders from the state joined Trinamool Congress at a joining ceremony held at Rukmininagar Bihu field.

The mass joining came a few days after former Assam Congress president Ripun Bora quit the party and joined TMC.

Later, Bora was appointed as the president of the party's Assam unit.

Ripun Bora was the second senior Congress leader from Assam, after Sushmita Dev, who joined TMC last year.
