Antarikshya Dutta Memorial Lecture organized by Assam Press Correspondents Union Sivasagar

GAURISAGAR: Assam Press Correspondents Union (APCU) Sivasagar District Committee organized the Antarikshya Dutta Memorial Lecture on the topic ‘The role and responsibilities of society in degradation of human values’, in association with Antarikshya Dutta Suwarani Smritirakshya Samiti, for the second consecutive year at Konwerpur HS School in Sivasagar district on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering as an appointed speaker of the memorial lecture, noted researcher of folk culture and former Principal of Moran College, Dr Anil Saikia said, “We need a home where children can obtain love, affection, respect, mercy, patience, pardon and virtuous practice. From this environment, we can expect children to imbibe human values.”

The lecture session was conducted by Padum Kr Saikia, president of APCU Sivasagar District Committee, while Abdul Jelil, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar district, inaugurated it. The other dignitaries attended the function were Anup Phukan, noted educationist and former MLA of Tingkhong LAC, Monuj Singh, president of APCU, journalist Keshab Gogoi and Saurav Gogoi, Principal of Konwerpur HS School.

In the function, the Kamala Saikia Award for the year 2018 was conferred to Sanjib Kumar Phukan, noted journalist, and the award for 2019 was conferred to journalist Kunja Mohan Rai. On the other hand, the Prasanna Kumar Dutta Award, 2018 was presented to journalist Abdul Khalek of Mangaldoi and the award for 2019 was conferred to journalist Deepjyoti Saikia.

In the function, the Antariksha Dutta Memorial Award was conferred to Barasha Duarah of Konwerpur Higher Secondary School and Ankur Borah of Santipur High School.
