Anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) protest by journalists in Jorhat

JORHAT: “The anti-CAA protest will continue to save jati, mati and bheti of Assam from the government,” said Niranjan Mahanta, the president of Manab Adhikar Sangram Samity on Wednesday at a protest meeting in Jorhat city.
The protesters said that they would not allow the controversial Act to be implemented at any cost. Activists of various organizations as well as the journalist fraternity and artistes came out on the streets to register their protest against CAA.
On the other hand, activists of Progotihil Gana Mancha staged dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office and during the protest, several noted social activists and legal experts took part, said Indrajit Kakoty, a social activist. The student fraternity of various colleges, including Assam Agricultural University and Assam Women University, boycotted their classes along with students of other universities of the region.
