SADIYA: An anti-drugs campaign was organized by Sadiya College and Brahma Kumaris in collaboration with Sadiya College NSS Unit, Indian Red Cross Society- Sadiya and Sadiya Subdivisional Administration on Sunday in the Sadiya College premises.

As part of the campaign, an awareness rally was also organized where more than 250 students from various schools, including NSS volunteersof Sadiya College and NCC Cadets of Sadiya Government HS School participated along with their respective teachers. The rally was flagged of by Gunin Chutia, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Sadiya and Dr. Bhupen Chutia, Principal, Sadiya College.

After the rally, a public function was organized with the august presence of Puskar Jain, Sadiya Superintendent of Police, Sajib Das, and Priyom Jyoti Phukan, Assistant Commissioners, Sadiya, among other dignitaries. More than 200 students, teachers, local public and youth were present on the occasion. All the speakers emphasized the harmful effects of drugs.

Sadiya Superintendent of Police Puskar Jain talked about the effects of drugs addiction on society and motivated the students not to use any addictive substances, including drugs. Speakers from Barhma Kumaris emphasized the importance of meditation and spirituality in de-addiction. Dr Chutia, Principal of Sadiya College, highlighted the effect of drugs addiction on the academic career of a student. The team of Barhma Kumaris also presented a short drama on drugs addiction, stated a press release.
