Anundoram Borooah Awards presented to students in Biswanath

Biswanath Chariali: The Anundoram Borooah Awards for the year of 2018 were presented among the meritorious students of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC), High Madrasa (HM), Sanskrit, Pali Praveshika and FM Examination on Thursday at a meeting held at the Kamalakanta Bhattacharya auditorium, Biswanath College, here under the aegis of the Department of Secondary Education, Government of Assam and Biswanath district administration.

Around 420 students from 80 different high school, higher secondary and high madrasa schools under Biswanath district were given away with laptops and certificates in the meeting by Ranjit Dutta, State Textile and Handloom Minister.

In his address, Dutta elaborated various schemes initiated by the Government of Assam to develop the education sector in the State. He also called upon the students to follow the footprints of scholar Anundoram Borooah. The meeting was conducted by Bhaben Kumar while the welcome speech was delivered by Pradeep Sutradhar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) of Biswanath district.

Biswanth MLA Pramod Borthakur underlined the need of hard work and labour while preparing for examinations in his speech to the students. AMTRON vice-chairman Ritubaran Sharma also spoke a few words on the occasion. Pabitra Ram Khaund, Deputy Commissioner of Biswanath offered vote of thanks. Superintendent of Police Rakesh Roshan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Parvej Amin, social workers Paresh Borkakati and Diganta Ghatowar were present in the programme.
