Tezpur: A three-day training on Thresher, Portable Rice Mill and Dry Grinding machine was held under APART project at KVK Sonitpur with technical support of IRRI (International Rice Research Institute).

The training was attended by 20 farmers of the Sonitpur district. The training programme was conducted under the guidance of Angana Sarmah, in-charge Head of KVK Sonitpur. The programme started with a welcome address by Dr Roji Chutia, Subject Matter Specialist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sonitpur.

During her speech, she talked about the objectives of the training programme and importance of use of machineries in rice cultivation. Vivek Kumar, specialist of IRRI, acted as resource persons for the above programme. The participants were made aware of latest technologies using machineries for rice cultivation. He also talked about the advantages of use of machineries like thresher, dry grinding machine and portable rice mill. Different machineries used for drying and processing of paddy was well explained to the participants. The repair, maintenance and operation of the above-mentioned machineries were demonstrated by company technicians Dharmendra Das and Saurabh Tiwari.

Rupsikha Goswami, Assistant Project Scientist under APART, also assisted in imparting training to the participants. Palash Thengal, Project Associate, and Rajib Lochan Sahu of APART, KVK Sonitpur, also actively participated in the training programme.
