APDCL to introduce smart electric meters in Silchar

SILCHAR: Electricity distribution company APDCL has taken up a project for conversion of electric meters of consumersin Silchar urban into smart meters. Issuing a letter to this effect here on Thursday Silchar sub-division SDE Dibendu Das stated that under Government of India's UDAY Scheme, APDCL is going to install Smart Meter in Silchar Town area.

Under this scheme new Smart Meter (Make - Crystal) will be installed replacing the existing meter without any extra charges.

The installation will be carried out by the authorized representative of M/S Anvil Cables Pvt Ltd on behalf of APDCL.

He further stated that the advantages of Smart meter is that no manual intervention is required in meter reading while billing error will be minimized in this process. In addition to that it improves the consumer satisfaction and the consumers will able to monitor their electricity consumption with SMART BIJULEE mobile app.

By using this app, the consumers will be able to know their up to date power consumption in a billing cycle. The consumers will also be able to view historical values of different parameters like consumption, voltage, frequency etc. related to the power supply in his premises, stated a release.
