App Developer Arrested for Streaming Unauthorized Sports Content in Assam

A laptop, three phones and a device has been seized by the police following his arrest. An investigation is going on to track how he operates.

Guwahati: An app developer has been arrested by the Hajo Police for allegedly hacking into Star India Private Limited and developing two streaming applications using its content.

According to reports, the youth has been identified as Aminur Rahman and he hails from Hajo Town in Assam. He was arrested on the morning of 11 February after a complaint was filed by Star TV.

The police have said that Aminur happens to be an app developer who allegedly hacked and started streaming sports content which belonged to Star on two apps which he had himself developed.

Despite multiple warnings issued by the company about the illegal and unauthorized streaming, he did not comply with the orders and went on with his activities as he was earning "good money" from it.

As a result, a complaint has been filed to the police and he was finally arrested on 11 February.
